Once again we visited the Surface Design Show at the Business Design Centre in London. The show focuses solely on interior and exterior surfaces, highlighting emerging colours, textures and trends. This year the Light School and Stone Gallery stood out for us. Another area called Surface spotlight live showcased materials specifically for the education and hospitality industry.
We have recently worked on a few workspace projects with requirements for sound absorbent materials. In the past we have used acoustic panels such as Baux and Autex. At this year’s show, we came across a brand called Texaa. Available in many different colours their panels are covered in an envelope of a hard wearing knitted fabric which is apparently totally sound transparent. Functional yet adding warmth to wall cladding and ceilings, it creates an appealing desire to touch.
Blackheath products had a large display with products for various applications including Mazan acrylic glass panels- a great alternative to traditional glass and ceramic wall tiles. It comes in a wide range of colours and we’ve also been told it is quicker to shape and install on site.
The event has been getting bigger each year since it started in 2005. Looking forward to next year!
