The 2018 VM & Visual Display Show ran in the Business Design Centre in mid April. It provides exposure for businesses that provide products and services useful for the visual merchandising industry. It is more visual, product and display focused than the Retail Design Expo.
We were most interested to see new technologies and examples of innovative use of materials for retail spaces.
Floreeda Fabrications displayed some very interesting use of acrylic. Its stand was well organised, providing different zones showing the versatility of the acrylic and how it can be manipulated using lighting, colour, and texture.
An interesting and rather unexpected aspect of the event was also that flamingos were a recurring theme, indicating they have become a very popular bold visual merchandising choice recently. They can be found in small graphic detailing to elaborate oversized display examples. It embraces a very bright and playful approach that we will likely be seen in some form or other within the retail industry this year.
